What Is the CPTI?
The Canine Personality Type Indicator (CPTI) is a science-informed personality framework developed exclusively for dogs. What Is the FPTI?
The Feline Personality Type Indicator (FPTI) is a companion framework to the CPTI — built specifically for cats. Because feline and canine personalities differ fundamentally in their behavioural biology, the FPTI uses its own four dimensions, producing a four-letter code that gives you a precise, science-grounded language for understanding your cat's nature.
Sociability

What is the CPTI — Canine Personality Type Indicator?

What is the FPTI — Feline Personality Type Indicator?
The FPTI is the feline equivalent of the CPTI, designed from the ground up specifically for cats. Because feline and canine personalities differ fundamentally in their behavioural biology, the FPTI uses its own distinct set of four dimensions: Sociability (Gregarious vs. Solitary), Curiosity (Investigative vs. Vigilant), Willpower (Dominant vs. Compliant), and Sensitivity (Reactive vs. Temperate). The result is a four-letter code — such as GIDR or SVCT — that gives you a precise, science-informed language for understanding your cat's instincts, preferences, and emotional world.
How accurate are the results?
Pawsona's frameworks are based on observable, real-world pet behaviours rather than abstract concepts. How long does the quiz take?
Pawsona offers two quiz options for both dogs and cats: a Short Quiz with 4 questions (under 2 minutes) and a Full Quiz with 16 questions (under 5 minutes). Both produce a complete four-letter personality type result. The Full Quiz captures more nuance across all four personality dimensions, while the Short Quiz is ideal when you want a result quickly. You can always retake the Full Quiz later to refine your result.

What do the four letters in my pet's type mean?
For dogs (CPTI): the first letter is Sociality (O = Outgoing, S = Selective), the second is Exploration (A = Adventurous, P = Perceptive), the third is Cooperation (F = Affiliative, I = Independent), and the fourth is Emotionality (R = Relaxed, V = Vulnerable). How is this different from a basic pet personality quiz?
